Contour for Round Face Shapes

Not all of us are blessed with high cheek bones...I fortunately was BUT before i managed to lose some weight ,y face was about as round as a tomato! lol There are some tricks to get that defined look though and it can be very simple. But if you are blessed with a round face, you’re actually super lucky! Fuller cheeks and a round chin not only make your face look more youthful, but it’ll also stay looking younger for much longer! There are ways to chisel out your bone structure a little more with the right highlight and contour. You can literally transform the dimensions of your gorgeous face to create angles like Naomi Campbell. All you need to know is what features you want to emphasize to enhance your natural beauty.

Forever Young

Round faces are actually the most common face shapes among-st the rest, but they’re also one of the most misunderstood face shapes. A lot of people feel like if their face is round then it lacks structure, but often it’s just one particular feature that makes the overall shape look round; whether it is your hairline, having fuller cheeks or a  defined jaw. Generally, round faces usually have a youthful feel, with a curved jaw, and wider fatter cheeks. Fun fact: My grandma always use to bite my cheeks when i was younger....and as an adult! lol

Chizzle Those Jawlines

Contour works extremely well for round face shapes because you have a full round pallet which can help add definition and structure to your curved features. The general rule to follow, is the classic ‘3’ contour. To achieve this you should start by contouring along the outer edges of your forehead, at your temples, and under your cheekbones, then continue the contour around your jawline, but avoiding the chin. By leaving the chin free of contour, it will give the illusion of a longer face and help to add more height to your face, creating an oval face shape.

Find The Right Shade

The most important step of contouring is finding the right shade: Go only two shades darker than your foundation, or for a more dramatic look, you could even opt for three shades darker but if you go too light you won't be able to tell a difference and too dark and it'll look like you fell in the toilet lol. I prefer using LApro concealers and foundations but that is just my preference.

Brow Shape

So I use to be a fan of super skinny 2008 Kim Kardashian eyebrows and lets just say I looked a hot mess lol. High, arched brows work perfectly with round face shapes it also provides a vertical point, it creates the illusion of an elongated face. Start by brushing your brows upwards and then use a darker shade of brown to outline the arch and tale of the brow then fill it in using stroking motions to mimic hairs. We like to add a touch of highlight to the brow bone as well, to lift the tale of the brow.

Blush-Up

A lot of people with round shaped faces tend to skip blusher, but this is a big mistake as it adds a super cute flush of color and can enhance the definition of your contour. You just need to know where to place the blusher to work with the dimensions of your face: Sweep your blusher lightly across your cheekbones, starting very lightly at the apple of your cheek and drawing it towards your ear, between your contour and highlight. This will add warmth while elongating your face.

Hairstyling Hacks

According to celeb hairstylist layered and banged looks frame and shape the face that makes it super flattering. “This type of styling gives the illusion of a softer, more oval face shape and wherever the face holds weight, it’s always a good idea to soften that area,” he explains. “Your stylist can easily do this with layers to help create a frame and this will eliminate some of the heaviness our eyes see.” However layers to require some dedicated upkeep, you would probably need a cut every 2-3 months to keep up with the edgy look.
