Beauty Hacks: Fact or Fiction
1. Fact: Parsley ice cubes to soothe distressed skin
If you’re get puffy eyed mornings or your skin is a little tired from a long night, this trick will sort you out in minutes. You can start by blending a handful of fresh parsley with a cup of water and pouring the mix into an ice cube tray, then freeze. After a long night simply just smooth an ice cube over your face to soothe and tighten your pores. Ice helps to rejuvenate, refresh and tones your skin while parsley is a natural diuretic, which helps to eliminate excess fluid build-up!
2. Fiction: You should wash your hair every day
Washing your hair too much can strip it of the natural oils it needs to stay healthy and grow. This can cause your scalp tends to produce excess oil, which means you’re hair will get greasy roots more often. Washing your hair every other day (unless you’re excessively sweating from exercise) should be plenty. I wash my hair once a week.
3. Fact: Coconut oil as shaving cream
We all hate getting ingrown hairs, razor burn and bumps from shaving. For a smooth shave that doesn’t cause your skin to freak out, lather yourself in coconut oil for a natural shaving cream. The thick texture creates a protective barrier between your skin and the blade while the oil’s moisturizing and nourishing properties soften your hair. And just like that you have an even, soothing balm that hydrates and makes you skin glow hunny!.
4. Fact: Vaseline as highlighter
I love me some highlighter, if you keep up with my post I've discussed this numerous times! we really do. But if you are opting for a no-makeup-makeup/natural look, Vaseline, or most lip balms, have a dewy texture that reflects light and gives a flawless shine. Just use a little dab of it then warm it up between your fingers and pat it on the tops of your cheekbones...instant glow!
5. Fiction: Cutting your hair often will make it grow faster
Yea right! Cut/ trim your hair they say....It will grow longer they say. We've been lied to for years! I mean I actually wish this were true so we could grow our hair quicker. But let us not downplay the benefit of regular trims because they will get rid of split ends and help your hair stay healthy, it will also help it to appear thicker. Try to get a trim every three to four months if you can.
6. Fact: Witch-hazel for puffy eyes
There are many perks of getting older; wisdom, good career...but puffy eyes are definitely not one of them. Beat the bags and send them packing with some good ole witch hazel. This natural astringent is known to reduce swelling while refreshing tired eyes. It is so simple just soak a cotton pad with witch hazel and apply it to your under eyes for five minutes. Make sure to not get it in your eyes!
7. Fact: The lipstick-finger trick
Am I the only one that has had the fear of talking and there is lipstick on my teeth?! Lipstick on your teeth is almost up there with walking around with smudged/running eyeliner all day. But, there's a hack for that! Just take two fingers and rub that crap all the way to the left hunny! It works!
8. Fact: Cucumbers will depuff eye-bags
Well it all seems too good to be true that just placing some cold cucumbers over eyes would magically de-puff them, but guess what...its actually does!. Cucumbers are not only super hydrating, but they’re packed with vitamins C and A, which are anti-inflammatory along with that, the coolness of the cucumber also helps to de-puff eyes. It feels super good too!
